Historical Background
In response to this great initiative, A-K-M Anwar Hossain, Sahiduzzaman Bhuiyan (Mohsin) and Mohammed Moin Uddin came and joined with Azim Dewan. They started the procedure of Nuans Name search and obtained permission on July 16, 2013.
Then they called a meeting at 4 Linden Avenue, Scarborough, for Greater Dhaka people through a local Bengali newspaper in Toronto where about 25 people were present. In that meeting, an eleven-member Ad-Hoc Committee headed by Gabriel Shondip Rozario was formed for drafting the Constitution and By-Laws of the Association. The members of the Ad-Hoc Committee were:

The name of the Association shall be “Greater Dhaka Association (Canada) Inc.” as set forth in the letter present on, hereafter called Association.
Head Office
The Head Office of the Association shall be in the Metropolitan Toronto or immediate vicinity, in the Province of Ontario, Canada.
SEAL/MONOGRAM
The Association shall have seal and impression whereof is given in the margin herein, containing the words “Greater Dhaka Association, Canada.
Type of Organization
The Association shall be a non-profit, non-political, non-religious and community based charitable social organization devoted to services of the people of Greater Dhaka living in Canada and to extend humanitarian assistance and moral support to the vulnerable aboard.
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
- To promote the heritage, culture and language of Bangladesh and to observe different national days of Bangladesh in close cooperation with the Canadian Govt. multiculturalism program.
- To promote mutual social relationship among the members of the community as well as members of the Association.
- To provide and assist in the provision of the facilities for recreation to the members and their families and recreation forth benefit of the general public.
- To support and assist in the field of Education, Social Development, Poverty Eradication, Health and Sanitation and fighting Natural Disaster in general and abroad.
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
The Association shall be governed by Executive Committee. The Executive shall compose of the following 17 (seventeen) members who shall manage all affairs of the Association after duly elected by the voting members at the Annual General Meeting /Emergency General Meeting of the Association:

Terms and Fiscal Year of the Executive Committee:
All these above Executive Committee Members shall be elected as per By-Laws mentioned in article No.II for a period of 2 (two) years. The working year as well as the fiscal year of the Association shall start on July 1st and end on June 30th every year.
